Hosting a Website and using FTP!!!

G'day Guys!

This is a guide on how to Host your own website for your server and set up the files through FTP.

What you need:
- A FTP program i recommend FileZilla- FileZilla - The free FTP solution
- A written out webpage file (eg. something.html, something.php, etc.)

Ok, so first we need to start off with the hosting part. For this guide i will use Zymic.com

(1) Click on the link above or head to the website Free Web Hosting, Free Templates, Free Tutorials and More - Zymic and create an account for it. Don't forget your password or username or you may have some problems...



(2) Ok so when you are on the site and logged in you need to go to your control panel so click 'Control Panel Home' and wait for it to load.



(3) Now you need to create a new Website Host Account. Enter in all the info you want, choose how you want your domain name to end then click 'Confirm Registration'.



(4) Make sure your sites name has now appeared to the left of the Creation button. If it hasn't try again later.



And now for the FTP part of the guide.

With each free web hosting account, you will have access to FTP. FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol" and is the best choice to use for managing your websites files.

(5) Once downloaded, install and open FileZilla. Here is what it looks like:





(6) In order to connect to FTP, you will need the following information (also included in your registration email):

• Your website address (e.g. testersite1.zxq.net - without any www. or http)
• Username (This is slightly different for FTP, it is your username plus an "@" sign, so: [email protected])
• Password

And then hit "Quick Connect", if you have entered in your details correctly, you should be connected.



( Now simply upload files from your hard-drive to FTP. To do so use the left panels to browse through your files, for example I want to upload test.txt which is located on my desktop. I right clicked it and selected "Upload"



The file will now be uploaded to your site, e.g. testersite1.zxq.net/test.html
You may also create new folders, to do so simply right click in the right panel for storing pictures, music and etc



You can also change file permissions by right clicking and selecting "File Attributes".

however to accept accounts top be created you will need to use ur ip in the accounts php file and allow your pc to accept mysql connections
