How to Find and Catch Iron Thorns in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Iron Thorns is a part of the post-game unlockables in Pokemon Violet. And for players running through the Violet version, Iron Thorns is their primary target. However, tracking it down could be a challenge unless you know where to look to find it. To help you, we will tell you their location and how to catch them in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

What are the Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Iron Thorns is a Rock/Electric-type Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Iron Thorns' ability is known as Quark Drive, which boosts the Pokemon's most proficient stat on Electric Terrain, or if the Pokemon is holding Booster Energy.

    Iron Thorns Stats and Abilities

Here are the base stats of Iron Thorns:

    • HP: 100
    • Attack: 13
    • Defense: 110
    • Special Attack: 70
    • Special Defense: 84
    • Speed: 72
    • Total Combat Points: 570

Additionally, its Quark Drive ability makes it especially powerful in battle. This increases the highest stat (other than HP) by 30% when the Pokémon is on Electric Terrain or if it is holding Booster Energy.

What Nature is Best for Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

The best nature for Iron Thorns is Adamant, and it's the only good choice: its base Speed is only 72, so this Pokemon rarely strikes first, and a Jolly nature won't help much. With a partner like Amoongus, you can sometimes buy yourself a turn or two to Dragon Dance, and then your Speed is high enough to take over a game anyway.

This Pokemon's biggest weakness is Ground, but you can give it an Air Balloon or Skill Swap Levitate to solve the Earthquake and Earth Power problem. Amoongus can also be Energy Ball Ground-types when sent in and help Iron Thorns eliminate the threat.

Other good moves for Iron Thorns include Body Press, Thunder Punch, and Rock Slide. It's a shame that Iron Thorns doesn't have a better Special Attack.

Where to Find Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Iron Thorns can be commonly found in the cliff zones of Area Zero. Besides this, we recommend looking around Research Stations 1, 2, and 3 to easily find Iron Thorns. This region can only be accessed after finishing Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street.

How to Find Iron Thorns in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

To find Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you must travel to Area Zero Gate.

To get to Area Zero, you must complete Victory Roads, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street storylines. Area Zero is mentioned for the first time in Scarlet and Violet when you complete the Path of Legends storyline. Then, Arven will ask you to meet at Area Zero, but only after you have two more people. These people require:

    • Champion Rank Level Skills
    • Crazy Tech Skills

Then as we mentioned earlier, you have to clear the remaining storylines. Completing Victory Road will unlock Nemona. Similarly, completing Starfall Street will unlock Penny. These are the two people you need to unlock the Area Zero Gate. Once you do, Arven will call you to go to the crater. Now, you can open up the map and travel to Zero Gate near the crater.

Once you unlock this area, you can travel to the Great Crater of Paldea and enter the Zero Gate. Inside, you will find a new biome with Pokemon exclusive to that area. Among them, you will find this metalized Tyranitar.

Near Research Station One, the best place to look for Iron Thorn is in Area Zero. These stations act as checkpoints through this area, and you have to unlock them. To unlock Research Station One, you must beat Glimmora, a Rock/Poison dual-type Pokemon. Once you unlock it, we suggest you search the vicinity of this station, and you will find Iron Thorns.

How to Catch Iron Thorns in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

To catch it, you will have to weaken it in a battle. This is a Rock/Electric dual-type Pokemon. So Fighting, Water, Ground, and Grass-type moves will be effective against it. We also suggest you carry a Pokemon with the move False Swipe. This will ensure that Iron Thorns does not faint by accident.

That's all from us on how to find and catch Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. For more helpful guides, tips, and tricks, or to buy shiny pokemon violet for the game, please go here.

I recently tried out the creative tacos recipe from a cooking blog, and it was a delightful twist on traditional tacos. The combination of unique flavors and creative presentation made it a memorable dining experience
