Gaming News from Around the Globe

Blizzard Drama

There has been a ton of news going around about Diablo and Blizzard ever since the Diablo Immortal announcement was received poorly at Blizzcon 2018. The most recent of this was a very in depth article by Jason Schreier on Kotaku.com which can be seen here. This article goes over a lot of what has been happening with the relationship of Blizzard and Diablo. Here is a summary.

D4 was code-named Hades and was supposed to be a Dark Souls over the shoulder Diablo but was cancelled in 2016.

D4 is now code-named Fenris and resembles D2 more than it resembles D3.

D4 is estimated to come out in 2020 or later

Remember when they said they were working on mobile games for every franchise at Blizzcon? It seems a Pokemon Go inspired World of Warcraft game is in the works.

Team 3 (Diablo 3's team) was taken off D3 right before RoS launch because D3 at that point was seen as a failure even though ironically RoS fixed a lot of its issues according to most players.

Team 3 had a 2nd expansion in mind and planned but it never came into fruition due to them being moved to Project Hades. Mike Morhaime wanted to give the 2nd expansion out for free.

Once Hades was scrapped Team 3 had nothing to do and that is why we got the Necro patch so randomly

Team 3 is now working on Fenrir.

There is a lot of information in this article and if you care for drama, Diablo, or Blizzard news as a whole it is a long but worthy read. Also the video I linked above by Rhykker is the best breakdown of the article in video form that I have personally seen . He knows his stuff when it comes to Diablo so he adds a bunch of information and kind of maps it all together.

Than there is the news about Blizzard employees saying things are far worse than they seem. This comes to us in video form by TheQuartering.

This video breaks down some information by anonymous Blizzard employees who say things are not looking good at Blizzard. Here is a short summary.

Benefits are great at Blizzard but take home pay is really low and a lot of employees rely on commune housing because of Californias living expenses on top of their low take home pay

Blizzard income used to be about big bonuses for good work but lately have been straying away from that

Apparently they never used to talk about "cost" when making games or coming up with ideas but all of that has changed recently and now its all about costs and gains

Employees say Mike Morhaime was the CEO of the people and him going was very scary for them because he stood up for the employees

They are afraid Activision's influence on Blizzard is becoming more relevant than ever and it doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon.

There is a lot in this 15 minute video so I highly recommend watching this one as well.

Red Dead 2 Online is coming out this week

According to an article by collider.com Red Dead 2 Online starts its Beta tomorrow the 27th and fully releases on Friday the 30th. This is big news and very surprising as far as timing goes. Make sure to check out our Red Dead 2 section where I am sure a ton of Guides, Exploits, and more will be posted this week.

CS:GO Survival Mode

A CS:GO Survivor mode has been rumored for a long time dating back over a year. Game files for the new mode were data mined back in 2016. A twitter user Nors3 has recently tweeted an interesting bit of news. "Devs are testing Mode Survival for Op9" with this picture.

After this a developer confirmed the mode to ValveNewsNetwork. Seen Here

So what does this mean. Well Survival Mode, whatever it may be, is probably coming sooner than we expected. CS:GO has had a ton of updates, probably more in the last year, than it has had in its lifespan. Some people think this is going to be a Battle Royale and others think its going to be a CoD Zombies style game. Either way a new Valve supported mode has the communities attention loud and clear.

What do we know about survival Mode so far? Valve News Network made this video awhile back showing us what is known. Basically according to this video it seems to be a Battle Royale such as PUBG or Blackout but with a smaller map and smaller player pool. My guess is this mode will be packaged with the new Operation and than stay in the game permanently.
