As most of you noticed, we were down for almost 3 days, mostly due to hardware troubles, and a lot of confusion at our host.
Basically; here's what happened:
One of the hard drives in our database server failed, and needed to be replaced - This is a non-issue, as we take backups every night specifically for this reason.
However, somewhere along the line, there was some confusion as to what was supposed to be done (I can only assume the tech who was working on the server, left for the day, or something similar). They ended up replacing the hard drive in our web server instead, and wiping the entire box. We lost everything on the web server.
Luckily, they had replaced the drive; so we had 1 good drive from each server with data on it. Unluckily, due to some odd reason, the data on the drive from the web server got corrupted, so we truly did lose *everything* on it. (Including a ton of backups which didn't make it to our backup server)
After a few hours of fussing with things, we got the database back in order, so we didn't lose any long-term data. (Thank god...) However, I've been working on setting up the web server again for the last 12-15hrs (which is why the load has been going up and down like crazy)
We did lose pretty much all of our attachments, any site-saved avatars, photos, etc. I'm sorry, but we can't recover the data.
During the next week or two things may be slow, and you'll probably see the "Server is too busy" message on more than one occasion. I've turned it back on so I can at least keep the server up and running (so you guys can actually access the forum) while I'm not making changes.
Also, you may see database error messages, and stuff like that. I'll most likely be aware of them, but if you see anything really odd, please, let me know.
I've gotten FPSOwned almost back up, and RTSOwned is being worked on as well. (Yes, I lost the logo for FPSOwned, if any of you happen to have it, it'd be much appreciated)
Sorry, guys. Hopefully this will never happen again!
