Adding Achievements/Badges to Ownedcore

I've been thinking for a while and I believe adding a badge (achievement) system could work out pretty well.
I think it would motivate people to be more active and post more content on the forums. You'd get badges for completing certain tasks for example posting threads, getting upvotes, views on the thread and so on.
The members would have goals and would work towards those goals, maybe even give rewards like access to certain subforums (should definitely cut down on the leechers). I could be alone on this one, but in my head it's a good idea. <3

I'm pretty sure they trialed a system where you got certain achievements for say x amount of posts or join date, but irc only you could see them. Maybe when the forum changed over, i'm not sure.

Either way i'm not opposed to it, might be something to add in with the upcoming traffic burst we'll have with classic wow because they might be more inclined to stay to work towards those new sections as you say.

To me, achievements have always been a motivator whatever the game or system it was based on.

Getting access to existing sub-forums might be a little over the top, but maybe new, exclusive achievement sub-forums and other things such as CC, a free thread advertisement or something of the like would be nice!

Yeah I mean I was just giving an example, but yeah the point is it should be rewarding, so people actually stick around (contribute) and work towards those rewards

Indeed! I really hope to see this implemented, and as gippy mentioned it would be nice to have it done before/around the time of the release of Classic.

Yeah, I remember early prototypes of this being implemented in the old theme but it never really went anywhere.

It's a shame, it's something I'd certainly like to see around.

That should still be earned, and depending on how achievements could be implemented, people getting those achievements are likely well on their way to having access to those sections anyway.

I agree, whatever the rewards could be they shouldn't cross over to reputation.

Yeah, just some nice little badges on your posts would be enough, I think it'd be a good idea. I know there are plenty of plugins which do this sort of thing for vbulletin
