Hey guys, I'm new to this site and since I can't figure out why I can't even get past that verify bug on my account there, I'm posing here.
I finally decided to build my own gaming rig, well i have been wanting to do it for months but it just looked intimidating to do, but then I went on this site as the URL is pcper.com and the video was titled
How to Build a Gaming PC to Beat the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It even listed the specs for two different configurations. I just went with the more upgraded one
Video: How to Build a Gaming PC to Beat the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One | PC Perspective
The list went as I can remember
AMD FX 6300 6 core CPU went for 109 on Amazon and that it could meet the cores of the PS4 and Xbox 1
Motherboard MSI 970A-G43 AM3+ $59. and theirs was custom
Memory: Corsair Fengeance LP 8GB 1866 2x4gb @ $80
...Basically I saw the video and used my browser to record it off of YouTube and i watched it several times and each time I saw how easy it was to put it together. It took time to get the components because Best Buy kept running out of the hardrives that I needed.
But My configuration is this.
CPU: AMD FX 6300 Six core processor 3.50GHz (Been thinking about upgrading this to one of the eights or nine's
Got the 2 year warranty for the processor, and for the price of the bundle, I got the Motherboard: ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 for $50 bucks and the processor for $89 as well as the warranty for the motherboard as well.
Video Cards: Nvidia GTX750 1GB (This one didn't require me to plug anything into it)
Nvidia GT610 2GB (This one I know I will have to replace after paying off Verizon)
Ram: 8GB DDR3-1600 1.50v Crucial Ballistix
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 thinking abut upgrade to Win 8.1 or Win 10
Addendum: Downgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 7 over the Privacy issues and the Dual Nvidia graphics card driver problems. but will upgrade to Windows 8 and maybe 10 if they fix all of the problems in it like the forced Windows Updates, the driver problems...
Hard Drive:
OS/GAME:Western Digital 2TB Green. I know, replace the green for black or get a SSD from either Best Buy or Micro Center.
Spare: Western Digital 1TB Green (I know replace that with something in black or a SSD
Media/game ISO: Western Digital MyCloud 2TB attached to the back for extra storage is a Western Digital 750gb USB portable hard drive
(This one is plugged into my network and I'm thinking about removing the games that I don't play from there to make more room.)
Backup: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Thermaltake External USB drive 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD eSata/USB docking station
Media Drive
LG BH08LS20 Super Multi Blue Blu-ray Disc ReWriter (This one I had on hand and still works so that saved me money)
Monitor:
Insignia 40" HDTV HDMI
Samsung SyncMaster 24" 2494SW Digital
Case: Thermal Master This only cost me $37.99
TC-102: Short term case
Power supply: 500W Came with tower (Having the power source come with the tower saved me money as well)
Cooling system: fans
Other Components:
Keyboard: Logitech K360
Mouse: Logitech M215
Webcam: Logitech c615
Headset: Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless w Bluetooth,
Network: Realtec PCIe GBE Family controller
ISP Speed: 75/75 Verizon FiOS Will be changing for Time Warner and 250 or higher in speed
Controllers
Xbox 1
Xbox 360 wireless Black
Xbox 360 wireless White
Other:
PassMark rating: 2201
BIOS Version ALASKA-1072009
Bios release date 4/7/14
For the SSD's the highest size in my price range is 250gb from Micro Center.
I want to take the 8gb memory and take it up to 16 or 32gb. Get fans that will work with the case
Install a Wireless network card instead of using the Ethernet but I suspect the reviews will tell me to keep the Ethernet cable for better speeds than WI-Fi.
This is what I hate, the Storm Striker case I want badly is on sale for 140...and change and they got a sale on graphics cards too!
I dropped $354.31 for the Processor, the Motherboard, the tower, the Webcam, the warranties, the PSU, the Memory, and the thermal paste. and the warranties were the two year ones for all of the items. I also attached all the pics i could but I forgot to add the pic of my 25" monitor. and something tells me you're going to recommend that the tower go from the floor to the desk
I'm basically using this for games and the occasional vice need for The O.C. but for the list of games i have

Yes, I know it's a lot of games and it should be on it's own separate hard drive or SSD drive.
I guess it's easier to just wait till I get the right case, move the motherboard from the old one to the new one and then attach the newer drives to it.
Moving files around from one drive to another is an unnecessary and vicious evil but can't be helped.
I keep the ISO's onto my cloud drive as it was easy to just use a program to create ISO's of the disc as this way I don't have to worry about losing the discs or misplacing them.
