    Upgrade my pc!

    Hey guys,

I want to give my computer a pretty solid upgrade and I figured I could ask you guys for some advice.

    Here's my current build:

    Mobo: MSI 970A-G46
    Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor (6 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
    GFX card: XFX HD6970
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    SSD: 2x OCZ Vertex 3 120GB in RAID0
Case: Cooler Master CM 690 III

Apart from the bluray player (which I've never used) that's basically it.

Obviously I'm looking to use this PC for gaming, home entertainment and programming. It does most those things fine already but games like CoD Ghosts don't like my current system. Here are the upgrades I'm currently looking at:

I'd love your suggestions so throw them at me. I have a decent budget as long as this lasts for a while.

Funny that you created this right before I came looking for the same thing, but your CPU is the 2nd best for my mobo socket, so if you upgrade and would be willing to sell yours on the cheap I would be highly interested.

I can suggest You to take i5 instead i7. You will have no use of i7, half (or more) cores will be lying and getting bored, for games and daily usage i5 is best choice. For Your RAM, check with CPUID what model You have exactly and check if its on motherboard QVL (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...E_DRAM_QVL.pdf. Its quite important I once got RAMs which were causing my system to crash and hang all the time.

You Sir, have definitly no clue. He is known for programming. So an i7 is the best choice he can make.

I already said in shoutbawx that the sabertooth could be a good choice for you too, since it good mobo-cooling and this series is known for reliability.
its also z97 too but got less connection possibilitys. so if you want to save some money, you should take it.

Also you should take X. M . P - RAM like this one: Kingston HyperX KHX16C9T2K4/32X - Prijzen - Tweakers

Sorry, but I disagree, programming is one of least demanding tasks for CPU, fossil like Athlon 2500+ would do great with current compilators for C/C++/C#. Graphics rendering, 3D animations, video editing,CAD/CAM, for those You need best CPU available, for programing very basic CPU will do.

I do do some video editing and some game streaming as well so I'll probably use the CPU.

From what I've found, in most cases intel > AMD for CPU and GeForce > AMD for GPU. I used to get paid to build computers on a budget and have to make it the best possible for the price.

This site is also quite good as a general overview. http://www.logicalincrements.com/ Then depending on what you are looking for you can search for similar products than the recommended one.

If you need any help feel free to PM me.
