    Computer Help

If there is anyone that thinks they can help me out..

I booted up windows and got the error message 511-CPU Fan is not Detected. (I have come to the conclusion I need a new CPU Fan.)

I logged into my account and id say atleast half or all of my hardware was recognized for the first time and reinstalled and I was prompted to restart my computer, so I did.

I come back on with the same error message I log onto my account and my sound is not working. I check Device Manager and the only Yellow "!" is on Communications Port (COM2) on the tab Ports (COM & LPT). I have checked Volume, Speakers, Updated Drivers, Plugs, Cords, Wires, and every other thing I could think of, yet no sound.

I reformatted my computer, reinstalled windows, updated drivers... still, no sound. I have ran out of ideas to do I have contacted my Computer Manufacturer and Microsoft, posted this on a few other Forums, and I have yet to get any further to getting back Sound.

    Re: Computer Help

    Do you have onboard sound?
Dont forget the "Chipset" driver for your mainboard! (VIA, nforce...)
This sounds stupid but: Also be sure your speakers are connected to the GREEN sound-port on the back of your computer (if there is a green one)...

If its still not working you can buy a soundcard for ... 10-15$ maybe less, just look at ebay.

You can find out what Chipset you got with a Diagnostic-Software like "AIDA32" (Freeware).
    |MG| AIDA32 - Personal System Information 3.93

Or for Windows Vista use "EVEREST" (Theres also a free Version) somewhere here:
