I found a awesome web browser quite awhile back called Wyzo and its really helpful.

Its easy to organize with bookmarks, add ons, etc...
I use it all the time but not for what your thinking atm.
It has its own download manager AND Bit torrent tracker add-on
which is really helpful so you don't need Azureus Vuze or anything like that. It also give you LOTS of info on the site your browsing. Here are some SS's:









Those are some of its features. It also allows you to increase and decrease text on any web page and such.

or, alternatively, use firefox. hell, there's even an addon to make it go at 10x the usual speed.

fasterfox. you can also change values in the settings files (but I recommend letting the addon do it unless you know what you're doing).
