    Choosing better Web Host, help!

Currently with Hosting24 $7-$8 membership which is the gold, its shared hosting afaik but we are having issues.

We run phpBB3 forums and wordpress with few scripts (been modding the forum) and often hit the "HighCPU" error which the whole site is brought down for 5 minutes. Its getting ridiculous, its simple forum with around 10k posts (since nov 1st 2011) and around 2k members (500 of which are active) and its just ridiculous. Can't even use mChat due to the error popping up. I had to end my project on RocketTheme Dominion style modding due to it having alot of css files and scripts since the rror kept popping up.

Any suggestion for better house? Under $10 a month if possible. Bluehost looks ok I suppouse, Hostgator possibly as well.

I use hostgator. They offer great performance and you can manage fairly large forums on there shared hosting plan without any issues. There support team is very helpful too and they even restore a cpanel backup for you.

Another alternative is Namecheap. Namecheap do offer fast servers with a lot of options in Cpanel. I think they are also slightly cheaper but there support team is very slack. If you know what you are doing I would go to Namecheap but if you want support, even just a little, I strongly recommend Hostgator

Thanks man, il check them out. I think our forums are being DDOSed since we reach the 600 request cap by Hosting at least 5 times a day :3 Then the forums are down for 5minutes, we aren't even using anything special on our forums, few plugins but doubt its that intense >.<

You could use Cloudflare to help protect your site. It reduces the load of a web server so your site can handle more requests at a time (more requests is great, more users^^) then it will also help your site stay up against DDoS attacks and also protects your site against hackers to some extent. In fact, Cloudflare claims that using there free service on average gives "65% fewer requests and saves 60% of bandwidth". Another claim they have is that it "loads twice as fast for your visitors regardless of where they are located."

I use Cloudflare on all of my sites. When one of my sites was under a DDoS attack it managed to stay up (the bot net was pretty medium-large scale) although it was slow, but without Cloudflare I would say it would of went down. It's a very nice tool for websites of any kind

Large enough DDOS would take pretty much any site down which isn't the case for us, not even sure that we are being DDOSed in eh first place.

Probably will move away from Hosting24 and go with either Bluehost or Hostgator. Right now there is 25% coupon for Hostgator.
