    [Ventrilo] Need mic help

Alright so my mic seems to fluctuate A LOT. Some nights there are no problems at all, and people hear me just fine, but then there are other nights like last night when my arena partners could not hear me on vent at all. It was just all static. The night before, they heard me perfectly clear (I did not change ANYTHING since then).

Now, before anyone says it, I don't have a crap mic. I have the Razer Carcharias headset and it works just great, and this mic problem I have has been going on for a LONG time, not just with this headset.

So what I'm wondering is if there are any Ventrilo settings I can use, or some way I can fix my mic?

Could be a problem with the place you plug your microphone into your computer. You said it's happened with other mics, so that seems like a logically thing it could be? Maybe try replacing the sound card or getting a sound card and plugging it in there.

Yeah, that seems right. I've tried plugging it in everywhere I could (there are three places on my computer I can plug it in. The front jacks, the jacks in the back, and then the jacks on the sound card) and the problem persists.

So could the problem be a bad sound card?

I'm no expert, but that seems like it could be a likely problem. If you have another computer, try hooking the headset up to that can connecting to Vent and see if the problem persists.
