Nice (: well you have to just go to applications, or system whichever category it would be in and drag the application down into the bar. If you meant how to install them you do something like
sudo apt-get compiz
-enter your password
and your all set

I don't get the whole sudo thing, what does that mean? I want to install the Microsoft Font Pack but I have no idea how, I read guides but I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

sudo means admin its liek vista.in some things you have to run it as admin. in ubuntu you have to install as admin.

you have to open the terminal and enter that command

It's alright I was always like that when I first started using ubuntu (: You just have to open a terminal window from applications > accessories > Terminal, than type sudo apt-get (name of the progam) ex: sudo apt-get Microsoft Font Pack
