[Question] Need help with my sig (work in progress)

Hey

Im trying to get the effect of my character being beamed out of the dark portal with green light swirling all around her with a very magical and mystical feel.

This is what i have so far, but im not sure how to go about the next stage, i want magic lines shooting around her in sort of powerful magic, bright and sparkely!

I also need some sort of background.




Any suggestions to progress or even to improve my work is highly appreciated.

As for the Burst... Get you render and duplicate it 4 times.
Hide all Layers except the Bottom render Layer.
Smudge This layer towards the portal and set it to normal.
Second layer smudge it again and set to Linear Dodge.
Third Layer same Smudging and set it to Color Dodge.
Fourth Layer Once again smudging and set it to Soft Light.
Fifth Layer should stay the same with slight smudging on the sides.
