need small help with memory read

I just wanna read the current mana cost of a skill, but i don't know how, maybe reading memory but i never did it and don't know if it is safe to keep reading the game memory constantly
if someone can point out how i can proceed, or if i should, i'll be very grateful

I recommend reading over how ExileAPI accesses memory and doing a little research for general memory reading/editing. I don't think it has spell mana cost, but maybe. If not, you'd have to reverse it yourself.

Speaking of how ExileAPI, how does it/poehud actually work? Like from a technical standpoint. I want to learn how it works, both from a student and hopefully future plugin developer pov.
I can't find any explanations/guides of how it works (or maybe I just didn't look hard enough), only plugins for it or 'download the latest version here.'
    Thanks!

Basically, ExileAPI reads memory from Path of Exile, lets say all entity locations (player, enemies, etc). It processes these locations, then translates them to on-screen coordinates using some matrix math. Then, once we have the coordinates relative to the player's screen, draw a red dot.

Fairly simple. Read memory, make a decision based on this information, perform an action.
