    Main features

    A New EverQuest
EverQuest Next is a complete reimagining of the EverQuest Franchise. Old friends and enemies will appear — but they may not be who you remember. With 10,000 years of explorable history buried beneath its surface and a future you will shape, this is your Norrath.

    Full Destructibility
Everything in EverQuest Next can be destroyed. Crush the ground beneath an enemy's feet — or bury him under an avalanche you created. The world is your weapon.

    Permanent Change
The land of Norrath changes every day, based on the actions of all players… including you. Cities rise and fall, kings live and die, even the gods may change. You won't want to miss a moment of it!

    A Class Revolution
Our character classes are streamlined and designed to be mixed. Want to be a teleporting rogue or a backstabbing barbarian? The choice is yours!

    Multi-Classing
There are no levels in EQN, but there will be more than 40 distinct classes (or professions) at launch, with multi-tiered abilities and specialized weapon skills to collect and master; players will mix and match abilities from each class, creating truly custom characters.

    A Life of Consequence
Your choices will rule your destiny. Do you save a villager's burning farm or choose to do nothing? Do you clear orc camps away from Qeynos or help them destroy the city? You will make your own story — and shape the world for those who follow you.

    Emergent AI
In EQN, NPCs will have specific motivations and preferences that direct behavior in nuanced and unpredictable ways. Players will find themselves in a world where NPC decisions are based on core values, not dictated by static spawn points. For example, Orcs may attack opportunistically because they want an adventurer’s gold, not simply because a careless hero wanders into an attack radius.

    EverQuest Next Landmark

In Landmark, players use some of the same building tools as SOE developers, putting them to work in huge persistent worlds that each support thousands of other players. After a player has constructed a new object – whether it’s small (like a castle door) or big (like the entire castle) – they can share the design with other players, or simply wander the world to check out other people’s creations.

EverQuest Next Landmark launches this winter as a free-to-play game, and while SOE hasn’t announced a formal launch date for Everquest Next, they say that what happens in Landmark may help shape and color the final MMO; if players create compelling new objects and environments, they could easily show up in the official game world.

Also throw some Ultima Online in there, which is quite funny considering it is EQ. No levels and players drive the content.

I'm sure i've read somewhere that there will be a Real Money market somehow, where to sell items... but take it like it come..
I still wander what kind of marketing model they pick, for sure is free to play.
    we will see..

you will be able to sell your creations from EQN Landmark to players and if you are really good, then directly to Sony

Started playing Everquest 1 back in 1999,
It was my first experience with a MMORPG.

I fell in love with Norrath and very few games can compare to the experience I had during my many years of playing.

I was skeptical of "Everquest Next" due to my let down of the sequel.
After watching the twitch stream from SOE Live my interest in the game has increased significantly.

I don't wanna hype it up too much though.
(As we know that usually leads to disappointment)

Well Im excited for this game, but i want more info on it. For now... my go to game will be wildstar as playing the beta has the WoW feeling but with a deeper pool. But then i watch the EQ next stuff and the emergent AI, with the feel of the world being ALIVE... is better than anything in any MMO... as the only things that change in the worlds are normally when a patch hits.

So... yep More info is needed.

Kind- selling stuff in the commons tunnel :P

The fact it has no levels and you can dabble in skills reminds me a ton of Star Wars Galaxies Pre-CU. Add in good crafting system like SWG and I am sold!

i considered it until you used the words minecraft and wow

wait.. no i didnt. the minute i heard smed say they were going for "eq like gameplay" and then proceed to say "no levels" - "no raiding" - "f2p" - "multiclassing" it just went downhill from there. Basically everything i DONT want in a MMO roflmao. Apparently he was never involved nor played everquest.

I hear it asked again and again "what do you want, a reskinned everquest??" YES!!! EXACTLY!!!

i realize all the kids born after 1990 have no idea what im talking about and after being coddled by dev after dev via a trend that blizzard started (which one of its own developers is on the record saying they ruined the genre) they would likely play a game like that and quit in a heartbeat. However to a purist, someone who remembers what made the genre great and what its really about (tip: its not the "Phat lewts11") its a nostalgia like no other. Until a developer takes to kickstarter to fund a real mmo, it will never happen again. Too much money to had by using features that attract the "kids" and anyone funding a mainstream mmo would turn a true immersive community based/driven world down in a heartbeat. (remembers blizzard saying "the wow community" as they remove the last semblence of it in game by taking away having to even seek out another human for your enchants)

MMO's nowadays are basically action games with a chat room attached. People dont even help one another nor adventure. You queue for your "instance fix" which is what they actually call a dungeon, from main street LOL. (hows that for immersion?)

anyhow, ive gotten carried away. Sony is just looking to ride the money train, and in doing so will create a game with a revolving door. Excerberated by the fact they are audacious enough to use the F2P model. /vomit

No, i wont be playing and im disappointed to a degree i cant find words for. (having played EQ1 for 9 years and EQ2 for 4-5) Ive waited a long time for any info on this game and when it came.. i felt like i had wasted many many many hope filled days lol all in one fell swoop >.<

The game wont even look as good as it potentially could/would have because the majority (read:wowkids) refuse to have to upgrade their pc to play a game and dont realize an abused 5 year old peice of hardware isnt going to cut it. Sony has/will cave and hold back so that wont even be a potential chink in my armor of refusal :P

can you tell how passionate i am about mmo's? Ok, im going before ya'll end up w/ a book!

who remembers staying up for 24 hours with coffee waiting in KC for karnor to pop to get your epic finished? Or camping Lodizal for days and having a heart attack when he spawned, only to be KS'd by some jerkoff who just ran up LOL. (the beauty was back in the days of a real MMO, if someone acted immaturely, or rudely, or straight up ninja'd.. they would be completely and utterly alienated by the community to the point of having to quit or roll a new toon. True story) Thats how "community" driven mmo's used to be. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Oh, you forgot the wurmslayer :P
