Have I been scammed ? ( War Ultimate )

Then I was in need of a forum for one youth site I found one and installed it in 20 mins. Also I've spend around 15 mins looking for color scheme and 20 more for creating appropriate themes branches. So totally I've spend less then an hour to do it. Could I repeat it today? I will do it even quicker, there is at least 2 very advances but easy to install forum engines which I know and google for sure have both of them on the first page.
Of course later om I've added a lot of addons and change design completely, but to run a forum you need as maximum 3 hours if you never ever did it before. I could even except 1 day delay, but still not 5 days delay, especially then I personally waiting something what could be made in 1 hour maximum and was promised to me 2 times by Hiber (personally). Now the soft is a paid one and customers has to be respected (at least). Hiber is not answering mails and not answering in MSN, we still have no forum and no promised futures and it is just sad, really.

dude... we have already made a forum b4. I just think he did not like the style, or anything of that sort, so he is looking for the right ones to buy and stuff like that. And yes, making a forum does not take much time at all, but making a good forum takes quite alot of time. He probably isn't answering the emails and such because he hasn't been online today, or is just annoyed by you constantly asking him.

Just wait a little while... his focus isn't on the software atm. There is alot of work to be done on it regardless to make it less crackable.

EDIT: oh yeah, and i feel sorry for the person who cracked it =P he wasn't lying about there being a "surprise" inside for crackers.

In RL I'm a director of a social center in EU and I have some experience in leading business and ppl management. I will show you some mistakes which was done already on my IMHO
1. If you do a software - protect it from the beginning.
2. It is not possible to protect your software on 100% - the efforts to do it will cost you much more time then profit.
3. If you are planing to do any changes (like make the program not free) - warn people in advance (1 month is a good period, 2 weeks - minimum period)
4. If you fail - do not do any revenge, just learn from it.
5. Always keep your words. If you don't - people stop trusting you and it will be very hard to gain trust back.

That is obvious I didn't invent absolutely nothing special, it is management laws for a starting businessman

You have already a website which explain nothing. I would put a short message on the first page (and on the bottom of the all other pages) which will explain what has happen and what should we expect. You have a working forum? Put it on, do not disappear for a week with zero explanations!

Learn to respect your customers or we will not respect you.
I think Hiber had a wrong start with all the changes he made, but I do believe he will be strong enough to earn our respect back. Hope you get the idea.

P.S. My IMHO - the only difference between 0.1.5 and 0.1.6 is the "surprise". I'm personally against any surprises, but at least you has warned people about it.

And the surprise is to stop future cracking =P And yeah, I agree. He should have put more protection on it before releasing it... but apparently he didn't =P

Thats one of the reasons a future release is delayed for a little bit. Gotta implement better protections.

EDIT: oh and btw... if anyone still plays AoC... i'm updating the addresses from it =P

/sigh... you never understand anything do you? Protection is FOR the program, thus spending time on the program itself. If the program is good, and has no protection, 1 person will buy it, crack it, and release it. If the program is good with protection, X people will will buy it, while a very limited number of people would crack it (no protection is 100%), and most likely not release it to the public.

Sounds to me like Hibernos is embeding some kind of maleware into his program, as such HE is the one that should not be trusted.

Would you trust any program where the author openly admits that there is a "Surprise" in it or that it "calls home"

um... Yaggy gg noob =P Do you even know how anti-viruses detect virus'/malware? They scan for certain bytes within the program... if none are matched... then it reports it clean. IF there was any virus/trojan/malware inside of the program, why would an anti-virus detect it?

Also, the surprise doesnt even affect anyone but crackers, its just like any other anti-crack method.

Also, did you know that almost every piece of software you use "calls home" (as you put it). How else would the program check to see if the key is working or not, or if there are any updates, or anything of that sort. Your Anti-Virus "calls home" every once in a while so that it can see if there are new virus definitions or any updates to the program itself.

Actually you are probably better off using using one of the other many war hacks that are available for free or even some payed for ones. These are far better than War Ultimate anyway.

Nothing is 100%. How do you expect that to catch everything? There are tons of undetected viruses (by everything) released every day... why we had one posted right in the contributers section the other day... but you dont have access to that section do you?

EDIT: oh, and how do you know its not packed? Just because "packed with *****" doesn't come up on there, that doesn't mean its not packed.

I don't think, that Hiber revenge be a maleware or virus. Prolly it will just steal your account details or will trash your darkpromise set. On other side revenge version was created way to quick, so probably it will do something ingame, that will get you reported, that would be smarter.
But still I do believe that revenge change nothing, code was not protected good enough so it will be now. Would it be 100% safe? No.
All this looks like sandbox fight right now, so good luck to both sides.
