Sending Commands (Memory Bot): What is the best way nowadays?

    Guys,

I am currently working on a bot in C# for FFXIV. I have finished the first part which is a multi-threaded application that reads memory using basepointer + offsets, then updates the GUI.

I have also implemented functionality for sending commands, using sendInput(). My code is now capable of sending combined keystrokes such as ctrl+1, which was a bit more complicated than i first imagined. This method might not be the most professional though, so below follows a couple of quick questions.

    1) What is the best way nowadays for a bot to send commands to a game process? Any links to information / tutorials / sample code would be greatly appreciated.

    2) If anyone out there would like to team up with me as a mentor / partner, please let me know. I am very interested in expanding my knowledge and put down time and effort to make something really professional and functional

    Thanks a million in advance!

    Best regards,

    Magnus

Anyone know what the best way is to send commands to a bot? Is it DLL injection, simulating keyboard strokes with something like SendInput, or any other method?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Its best to avoid injection, just use sendinput yeah.

Thanks karn. Why is that? It seems to me like we would have much more control if we are within the process itself. I mean, I can then intercept functions that draw to the screen and for instance get all the chat log just sent to me in addition to screen, as well as probably lots of other useful things.

The downside is that i seem to have to write the DLL in C++ and add in quite a bit of assembly. Seems a lot harder than just C#.

Thanks in advance for elaborating on this.

Its pretty easy to detect dll injects, memory writing in games that have anti cheat measures.
