    [Idea] Sound-Based Fish Bot

As of late I've been fishing with my eyes closed based on the sounds the line makes catching, hooking, missing, and mooching. I'd rather not use an injection based bot since that could get fixed someday, so would it be feasible to make a bot that "listens" to the sounds and takes actions based on those sounds? Whether it be an actual listening device or just detecting the sound file triggers.
All who possess the blade go mad.

I don't see why this wouldn't work in either way. If you could find the address for the sound file triggering, you could just have the bot do it's key sends and what not right after.

As for a listening device, I've no idea what you'd use but I'm sure there is something out there.

This is what I actually did for my first wow fishing bot, you would hook the d3sound module, and catch the fileID/Name of the sound being played.

But in ffxiv all you have to do is read 1 memory loc, no injection.

However, to read what sound is being played to make sure you catch it, you have to do injection.

So its much safer in ffxiv to just read the one memloc that says when you fishing pole moves.

Wasn't there an issue with the game using different pole bends (I.e. memory locations) for different fish types and sizes? I thought I read that in one of the bot discussions here.

Also what about the issue of others fishing nearby as you also hear that sound.

bumping this because this is the 2nd result for "sound based MMO bot", and I was looking for resources on them while making one for another MMO

A MMO bot that uses sound to trigger certain events can be useful in certain circumstances where:
-a loud sound plays when an event of note happens (i.e. a chime plays when you fish)
-there is minimal garbage noise, so a loud sound is only heard when the event of note happens
-you can't read memory (i.e. due to an anticheat program you don't know how to bypass)
From personal experience making a fishing bot for FFXIV, memory reading is far easier to implement, which should also be the case for most MMOs
    -color is slow/unreliable/cannot be used
