Do a charge back on PayPal. Dont say it was for virtual goods, they will tell you bad luck. Say you spoke to him on AIM/MSN and he was meant to send you something "physical". If a couple of you do the dispute against him, and none of you say it was for virtual goods, I think PP will refund the money to you no problems.
