Watch a stream on Twitch.tv without increasing the viewer count?

Is it possible to watch a live stream on Twitch without increasing the viewer count?
I have tried watching it through VLC but that, also, seems to increase the viewer count.

    Of course it will...

You want to make a connection to someone else's servers with their software without them knowing that you are connecting, this is usually called hacking. What's the purpose of doing this?

Found the "secret" stream of a semi pro team that streams their scrims so that an online analyst can help them out a bit.
Some people have found out pro players' streams before and posted about it online and stuff but I just like the team and enjoy the little peak behind the curtains.
I can download and watch the VODs so they don't find out and close the channel but I would like to be able to watch it live
Not show up as a viewer / decrease it by 1 or something possible? :X

Perhaps you could modify your user-agent to trick the site into thinking you're a site crawler (aka. robot), those should not increase the view count.

Block usher.twitch.tv - it handles the tokens required for verification of nearly everything on twitch. You won't generate any and won't count as a viewer.

I tried GoogleBot, a few other options, and my own stuff(fgneöjejge, dontcouuntmeasviewer, etc) but it still counted me as a viewer.

It didn't work. Or maybe I just did it wrong..
I went to Network Tools: DNS,IP,Email to get ip adress so I could block it 199.9.251.152-155 so I blocked incomming traffic from those ip adresses. I just now added outgoing traffic aswell(Same ip adresses) and twitch seems kind of slower sometimes and the stream isn't even loading

Usher probably shouldn't be blocked entirely. countess.twitch.tv is used for views as well... The thing is, the SWF you watch it through will make calls to it as well, so I'd try blocking both countess and usher, and grabbing the HLS link manually (Not with livestreamer).

"Grab it manually" how? And not blocking usher entirely? Do i just block some of those ip adresses?

As far as i know twitch is not using broadcast to send out video data. Which mean all connection can be counted. The fact that you need to create a token to make the connection has nothing to do with the fact that connections can be counted.
This is why you can use VLC or Livestreamer..... and still get counted as a viewer.
The only solution i see is to use an already existing viewer and use he's stream data for yourself. I guess this is not possible for you.

Damn... No, that's not really possible for me. No way to do it then? Oh well..
The stream is somehow hidden by twitch - it's being streamed to but it shows up as "offline" although sometimes it will say "live" for a second then to back to "offline".
Using the twitch API I can still get preview images, to get glimpses of what's going on in the stream.

I don't remember if I tried livestreamer to watch the stream and it's not being streamed to currently(but might be soon) so I came back to see if someone found a way to not count as a viewer. mmh :/

I have a question though.. How does viewer bots work, then? If they're not actually watching their streams they (create tokens or something I have no clue) still count as a viewer.. so blocking this would have the opposite effect? - not counting as a viewer?
