How to call LUA script inside a video game?

I am trying to write a GUI mod for FFXIV and want to know the safest and best way to call a LUA script into the game. I am already familiar with reading/writing memory values but I don't know where to begin to call LUA scripts into the game.

I would love any guidance or direction.
