[Request] Chat program for network only

    Hello everyone.

If possible, could someone code a very basic chat program that only people from our network connection can chat on?

Though of something simple like this: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/9919/chatr.png

    Will +Rep anyone who contributes.

    newest version!

    1. open the server only on one pc in the network
(firewall will try to block it on first start)
    2. start the clients (everyone that wants to take part)
    3. choose a username
    4. click "Connect to Server"
    5. type in the ip of the pc where the server is running (e.g. 192.168.0.2)
    6. start chatting! "enter" will not work to send the message. always click "Send Message"-button.

    Have fun

edit: new link... forget the autoscroll and had to fix it
and if there is any mistake, tell me

So I can use the client on the computer that runs the server file?

Btw, doesn't seem to work. It can't connect when I type in the ip (192.168.0.1)

are you sure your ip is 192.168.0.1?

do you use a router? often the router has 192.168.0.1!

did you try to connect the client from the computer the server is running on? than instead of the ip you can type in: localhost
if that does not work, something goes wrong...
which OS do you use? works fine on my windows 7
will try some other OS until tomorrow.(vista, xp)

and make sure your firewall does not block the server
    -----
just tried it on my girlfriends wireless LAN. connected client from a vista notebook to the server on a w7 notebook.
the clients on w7 and vista can chat perfectly together.

check if you used the right ip

but an error occurs on the server when a client is closed... will look into it

192.168.0.1 is your local IP, to find the ip you need, you need to go to a site like Myip.dk

open the command prompt (windows+r, cmd), type ipconfig, look for the IP shown in 192.168.1.* [or something like this], try that one. If it doesn't work, try another in the list.
