    [VB.NET] Discussion on obfuscating.

Since maclone helped me sort out some misstakes and stupid assumptions from my side, I deleted my old tutorial on the spices.net obfuscator, which we can conclude sucks.

Maybe this thread can transform into a discussion about obfuscating/dissassembling vb.net programs in general?

I can recommend the Reflector dissassembler, a small program that disassembles most programs (at least most programs people post on youtube/forums used for phishing).

A interesting detail is that I dissassembled TubeIncreaser with Reflector!

this obfuscation is worthless. it doesn't even encode any strings and most of the stuff is just renamed to 0-9.
and you srsly want to tell us that you've done much research on that stuff?
Zomfg. And no, don't ask. - Dombo did it.

You're right, I made a retarded assumption because of the intact CLI*-header.
Used an old version of Redgate and it somehow didnt return the full strings, but using another dissassembler I saw the strings after some searching.

Well, we can conclude that using this program sucks.

You got any tips on better obfuscators?

Btw, that thing is called CLI-header, not CIL.
And I don't (want to) share the way I obfuscate my stuff public, but it's more than just using one program and that's it.
But search a bit in the forums, you'll find something.

Personally; I use {smartassembly} to do the initial obfuscation. I then use NGEN to compile the app from .NET code, right to native code. (NGEN basically runs JIT over your entire assembly.) Good luck ****ers.

A question. If you compile it from .Net to "native code", does that remove the need for the framework?

Or does it still call resources inside the framework?
