Meaning of ilvl

Hello,

i am using Turbohud since yesterday. I have searched the forum for an explanation of some things but i couldnt find something. I play diablo 3 on PC, when i move the mouse over an item then there is an ilvl on each item. Can anyone tell me what it mean?

It is a diablo related concept, HUD just display it. Afaik at Level 70 it has no reason to see the iLvl anymore.
