New Gem Exploit / Bug with AH?

LoL @ the Flawless Amethyst Market? - Forums - Diablo III

    This ^

Didn't see it in the exploits section. It may be in Elites (at least I'd assume so? It's new as in maybe last few days?)

Just wondering if anyone knows how to replicate this. Something about buying mass quantities and sorta rolling a dice to pray that you get something really expensive in that pile.

    Anyone know what's up?

Well that's interesting but I'm referring to some bug where you buy lets say like 50+ chipped emeralds and you end up with 1 star in your inbox for some reason.

Ahh i see, after some research people are making billions off a bug with the gems, apparently you buy huge quantities and have a few high priced - sigh with the exploits in this game =/
I was referring to that comment in the thread that I linked from Diablo forums.

I'm not playing stupid. I just don't know what they're talking about. Some ppl saying it's a dupe exploit, some saying you just have a weird chance of getting high priced gems in your stack. It's ok though obviously no one knows. Or is willing to share.

the gems are so expensive because people are stocking up for rmah patch... a radiant star gem will be made of ~700 flawless square... and the lower gems are just getting more expensive as the people could make gold of buying low gems and cut them to flawless square...

So no one got any ideas? I also heard this a few days ago... The low gems now costs 700 each, so I think there is a glitch or something. Anyway, if anyone finds out, pm me :O

I am not confirming anything, I am just saying people were talking about the ah glitch on General. And randomly chipped gems costs 700 each, so coincidence? Maybe this is just BS, but so many heard it that they actually bought so many low gems that the price got higher, anything is possible people.

I think a -possible- reason the prices went up, because they got low enough for someone(or a few working together) to buy up the majority of the 'reasonably' priced gems, with the intent to manipulate the market prices and resell.
Like buying all the hats (even the ones everyone was wearing) in a hot country, and selling them back to the locals at a markup.

Suddenly they have the majority of the stock, and relist that for a higher price, getting an accomplice to buy out a few of the newly-priced gems to get the 'last 10 trades' where there want it.
Most players won't have been stockpiling these almost vendor-value gems, and they could simply buyout anyone trying to bring the prices down to what it used to be (and who would want to? I was busy selling all my gems for the temporary high prices). Beating the gem market into submission with their massive wallets.

Maybe that's not what happened, but if I had a -lot- of gold...the flawless-square market is a nice target to manipulate like that, because the prices can't get too much lower and crafting mats are harder to manipulate because of the massive stockpile locked up in items, or stored in stashes.

The lower the price of a commodity, the easier it gets to buy it all out. I might decide to stockpile some F-squares when they're near vendor price again (if they aren't already).
