Looking for an way to open multiple instance of Diablo 3 that work

so i start up one window and log in and everything

start up the 2nd window and log in but am unable to join games. getting this error "you are unable to join the game at this time"
even if close the first window, log into the first account is still get the same error in the 2nd window i opened

what is this all about : (

what i did take the diablo3 folder copy it named it client 2 then i create a shortcut to the diabloIII.exe and send it to the desktop and rename it to client 2(names are irrelevant just help me associate it). righ click on the shortcut client 2 and go to properties and add -launch after the target: "D:\D3 client 2I\Diablo III\Diablo III.exe" -launch

basically i have 2 installs of diablo basically

D:\D3\Diablo III\
D:\D3 client 2\Diablo III\

2 shortcuts 1 to each location
1 is normal shortcut "D:\D3\Diablo III\Diablo III Launcher.exe"
other is "D:\D3 client 2\Diablo III\Diablo III.exe" -launch

to update your 2nd client after patches you will need to close all diablo windows and run the launcher.exe in its folder

edit: also you are using multiple accounts and not trying to login to the same account 2x right?

yea it still doesn't let me pm you must be because our forum rank "lazy leecher" or something. The easiest way is to let someone you know/can vouch for to connect and set it up for you. Its not very complicated but hard to explain and verify that its done correctly. You can try to post Screen shots of your 2 folders and the properties of your links and the error itself so I can see where its occuring exactly.


close all windows and run the launcher.exe of your 2nd client and see if it downloads any updates or rewrites any files if you havent. because when you just copy the directory it doesnt copy all the mpq files.

yess fixed it

just kept removing updates until it worked again because i knew it worked with one of them

I just set mine up. Follow what Stealthingyew said and MAKE SURE you create the shortcuts to DIABLO III NOT the LAUNCHER. Add the -launch after the " marks in properties. IMO if you have multiple Hard drives copy DIII to a SEPARATE drive or it'll give you issues as well. (The method he mentioned with just 2 DIII directories on ONE Drive MAY work as well.)

ALSO you need to go to each directory and open the .agent DB File with notepad. Change: supports_multibox" : false ---- to ---- supports_multibox" : true and save. Remember do it on BOTH directories. Then go to your main C:\Program Data\Battle.net and delete the AGENT directory. I am not sure how that directory affects it but these are the steps I did and it worked. Depending on your PC as well you may need to tone down your graphics to help. At first it let me launch both but there was a HUGE HUGE lag/delay to join games and it kept booting me out. Once I made a copy of DIII somewhere else and ran them separately worked like a dream. PM me and I can help ya if ya get stuck.

^ Check out my post on there : "Copy your main D3 folder (Rename it something else). Create a shortcut to that .exe and right click > properties...you'll see a field that says, "Target". And after the .exe" type -launch (make sure there is a space after the quotation from .exe") Should ready .exe" -launch

Hey, I have a problem with this aswell, I did the -launch thing and I can login fine with the first client, then I double click the shortcut and its just a white screen? any help would be nice
