TIP: Converting blizzard balance to real money

This is more of a common sense thing, but I'm posting it in the exploits section because it is clearly not intended and may help some people out. Anyways here's what you do

    1. Find a trusted friend who has paypal attached to the RMAH
    2. Have them post a junk item for however much money you want to convert
    3. Buy out the junk item with your blizzard bucks
    4. Have them transfer you the funds over paypal
    5. Profit

This is useful for those of us who are unable to cash out in the RMAH for various reason (not having a phone plan compatible with the mobile alert system, for example).

TIP: Converting blizzard balance to real money

This is 100% intended. Blizzard makes $1.00+15% of that purchase. There is nothing wrong with doing this.

If cashing out your blizzard bucks to paypal was intended, then they would have let you cash it out to paypal. Currently there is no "legal" method of doing so.

This is not "cashing out" this is exactly what it is: buying an item from a friend and having them give you back the money, with Blizzard's cut taken out.
By the same logic it would be an exploit to have 2 accounts because Blizzard didn't intend for you to have 20 characters and there is no "legal" method of doing so.

Terrible analogy. A more apt one would be blizzard only allows you to purchase one game, so you have a friend buy one for you. It's clearly exploiting the system as it was designed. And if you don't like it, then don't post. Simple as that.

Which is still not an exploit nor unintended. I am posting to remind you of the rules of this forum, specifically:

    • No commonsense threads.
    • No things that are actually game mechanics, but you think are exploits.
Remind yourself this is the exploit section only, not the tricks or tips, if you have tricks or any tips to post, please post them in either the guides section or [Diablo 3] general (Whichever better fits the criteria of your thread)
A game exploit is a clever unintended use of game mechanics to gain an advantage within the game. This is entirely intended. There is no rule against having multiple Diablo accounts or having them interact in act way, be it multiboxing, trading, etc., the only exception is that they must be on independent battle.net accounts.

When you sell an item, you can choose for the proceeds to go to your paypal account anyway.

I don't mean to be rude, but why the hell do you think this is an exploit?

You can sell things to friends, Blizzard doesn't control whether or not they give you back the money. Absolutely nothing about this is in any way exploitative.

Not exactly. You can't do this if you don't have a credit card attached to your paypal (or a debit card that is issued by a credit card company, which is not an option in many countries outside of the US). You also can't do this if you don't have mobile alerts enabled, which only works with certain phone plans. I personally can't cash out with paypal due to the fact that my cellphone has a prepaid plan and is not compatible with mobile alerts.

More of a guide, but still useful for those that have no commonsense

Please fully read what I wrote. You need a credit card OR a debit card issued by amex/visa/mastercard, which is not an option for many people who live outside of the US.

Blizzard intentionally doesn't have a cashout option for money you have in battlenet balance. If Blizzard intended for players to be able to withdraw money from their bnet balance, there would be a button to do so. Their FAQs even state you can't take any money out of it once you put it in. This circumvents that restriction... so I'd hardly call it "intentional" design. Blizz won't care though considering they still get their 15%.

Anyways, all you lose is $2 + 15% (for items) which is basically what you would have lost if you cashed out straight to paypal anyways.($2 since you lose $1 from initial sale and $1 from second 'sale'). Really useful if you can't set up SMS protect to link your paypal.
