Gaming News from Around the Globe

    World of Warcraft

There is a lot that has been going on in World of Warcraft including a ton of negative press over the Azerite System, the bug count, the Warfronts being PVE Ashran, and much much more. With all of this bad press Ion the Game Director of WoW decided to do an AMA on the World of Warcraft subreddit /r/wow. The summary of this AMA can be seen HERE but let me go over some of the most important ones from the summary for you.

    • Shamans have been crying for an answer as to why they felt so amazing in Legion and feel so poorly in BFA. It has gotten to the point that one of the Elemental Shamans of the Shaman Discord has quit WoW over it. Ion's response? "Elemental shaman is intended to be a less mobile spec unlike Hunters who have mobility as a strength." He goes on to mention how "they need to work on Ele and Enhance". Essentially...don't get your hopes up and re-roll.

    • Azerite Armor: The issue is that it is very unclear on some upgrades even in differences of 30+ item level due to the Azerite traits and this was after they said they wanted to make upgrades more obvious after Legion. Also Azerite armor only being offered in Raids and a small chance in your weekly chest is another huge blow. Ion and the team admit they are not happy with how the Azerite system is playing out according to his answer. He said it is a system they want to continue building on. Which if you read a lot of the answers in the summary seems to be the theme. "Just wait it will work out we promise".

    • Bugs, more specifically in Raids. The GM of BDG asked him about how were there so many badly tuned bosses and bugs in Uldir on Mythic after people reported a lot of them in the Beta. Ions response was that they just fucked up the math on the tuning. As far as the bugs, he basically said that the internal test team dropped the ball compared to the top guilds bug reports. Aka a shit show.

Also in WoW news was the second John Staats AMA. This time it was on /r/classicwow and he had a bunch of others responding to questions with him. The AMA can be seen HERE. One of the coolest things I learned from this AMA was something Smitten posted in Bawx chat and that was how they had 3 more intended classes for Vanilla that never panned out. What were these three classes? Runemaster, Necromancer, and Death Knight. Which he later states all got combined into Death Knight in Wrath of the Lich King. To me this is actually a cool piece of information because if anything this rules out Necro as a future class in WoW. Even though I always figured Necro and Warlock were too similar for a Necro addition this new piece of information definitely seals the deal for me. All aboard the Tinker train?

Also apparently they were going to have Demon Hunter be a Warlock Spec or in the Warlock kit originally. This kind of makes sense since things like Immolate and Meta were WC3 DH skills and are in WoW's Warlock kit.

    Fortnite: Fall Skirmish

With how successful the Summer Skirmish was this comes as no surprise. The Summer Skirmish ended off with a bang at PAX West where a ton of top players from around the world got to compete for some serious cash. The Fall Skirmish is going to have a total prize pool of $10 million over a 6 week span. When will this start up? September 21st. In addition to the normal Skirmish they are adding a "Showdown Royale" which is an in-game tournament coming out in early October. The finals will be held at TwitchCon on October 26-28th. If you don't know about these Skirmishes they are basically a bunch of Fortnite tournaments that have rotating modes, scoring systems, and prize pools. These were occurring each weekend for the last 6+ weeks.

    The Dragon Prince

We don't talk much about shows in this report but I feel like this is a good start and exception to the rule. The team behind Avatar: The Last Airbender has a new animated series on Netflix called The Dragon Prince. With that kind of team there was obviously insane expectations and based on the trailer and the comments people were hyped. The show is based around Xadia and the Human Kingdoms being on the edge of war but a dark magic is found and if overcome can possibly restore peace. I personally have not had the time to start it up yet but the few people I know who who did have said great things. Hopefully one of you can speak for the show in the replies.
