When he's not playing Call of Duty: Black Ops or running his awesome Black Ops fansite, NateRios430 loves to dabble in the Android community. When he sent me a heads up about this, I just had to share it. Thanks to some tech by GameString, soon you'll be able to play World of Warcraft on your Android smartphone.
While it's still in the alpha stages, the video above shows a demo of running around Dalaran -- complete with the lag the city causes -- as well as a bit of combat and flying around on a mount. Unfortunately it's quite limited right now, in that you'll need the HTC Desire smartphone, along with a few other requirements that will limit its use for a while.
Then there's the question of whether this will even end up being legal. You as a player probably won't get in trouble for playing over your Android phone, but you have to wonder if Blizzard will be cool with people being able to log in to WoW from their phone, since it makes the Remote Auction House and its subscription fee a bit useless.
Still, maybe this also offers the potential for Blizzard to do something official on smartphones beyond the Mobile Armory and the Remote Auction House. They do have a full-fledged mobile department now, after all. I'll make sure to provide updates on this as its development progresses.
