    [Question] Change map

Donate to Remove Ads, Get ShoutBawx - Elite Forum Access
Is it possible, through model editing, to change the map of an area

For example from the normal Nagrand map to http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/7...otesairco7.png (Taken from the 3000g Per day post in Guides section, Thanks to NecroNz)

If its possible, where is the map picture placed in the files.

    Re: [Question] Change map

Yes, you can move ADTs, but keep in mind that model editing is client side.
The map will be there only for you.
You cannot exploit it that way.
Mobs will still be at the old spot.
    Maps are located in World\Maps.

    Re: [Question] Change map

Nice automated reply, Dragon[Sky] but he did want t know something else:
He wants to replace the displayed map if you open the worldmap to his one.

On this purpose you first go to your enGB / deDE / frFR / whatever directory and open the locale-xxXX.mpq and extract Interface\WorldMap\Nagrand\ to some temporary directory.

You will find all those Nagrand1.blp files there.
These are the basic maptiles. Open them in photoshop or whatever you use and move your new map so it will fit that individually tile. After that you've got these 12 basic tiles with your new map on it.

If you pack them again and have a look on the map you will notice nothing. This is because of all those other files in the directory. These are the "explored" parts of the map. (They are linked to the coords in a DBC.)

So what do you need to do?
Change those tiles too! But meeh .. Most of them are pretty small and its shitty to place the map in the right position all the time, so just make their alphachannel all invisible or just swap them all with a little invisible texture. Interface\WorldMap\Nagrand\pixelfix1.blp is such a invisible one.

So when you swapped the main tiles to your map and made the little explored ones invisible you should be able to see your new map on the worldmap-screen.

I hope you understood what I meant.

Btw: did you know that one of those developers uses Irfanview and Photoshop? They got some temporary shit in the deDE ones
