Old models back for legion (animations)

Since now the old model animations are completely gone, is there anyway to fix them back with modeling?

In order to make this work you would need to forward port the older models so they would work within the Legion client. Then use a patched exe to get it to actually be used within the game.

This could be done but it is very tricky to forward port models so they work properly. I personally don't have any experience with doing this.

The main issue with modding of modern clients is CASC system. Back in the days, the files were in MPQ archives and modding was easy.

Now, files are in storage called CASC. And WoW.exe updates this storage from online servers. So even if forward porting would be done, the main issue would be the client itself, cause it can rewrite these files with the ones from blizzard online storage.

Next issue, that is linked to it: models in Legion now reference FileID from CASC instead of FilePath. This means that all texture files\external animation files should be put into storage, and main model should reference them by FileID. But think, WoW.exe can check that those files are not present\deleted in online CASC repo and boom - all modding work has died.

dude we know about casc...im changing spells every now and then ... like the shadowmourne procc effect instead of the spotlight toy lol. The main problem is as i understand it is to first of all find the exact file we need for the animations and then take old ones from wod and put them into legion somehow ... but thats out of my range. I can only change the models and textures of items and chars. But that alone is very hard since you need to find the exact files first.
