How hard is it to change the loot sparkle color?

was looking to change the color of loot sparkle from that white / golden to somethign a bit easier to see like a bold pink green or purple... would that be a hard change?

Edit: and would it require MEF? slightly paranoid that would be something warden could easily spot

Haha that would actually be pretty interesting to know. I'd differently like to change it on my WoW, sometimes it's really easy to miss items that you're meant to pickup for quests. Having a different sparkle would make it much easier.

I did a search on these forums and found where people made the loot sparkle into a flag pole... and another that made the sparkle over herbs into a hunter arrow... so i'd hope changing the color would be easier... though i guess if you could click on a flag pole to loot then that would be pretty easy too >.< still paranoid about warden though

Swapping it to some other model is easier.

You would have to edit the particles in the M2. See M2/WotLK - WoW.Dev Wiki

You always have to click the mob, not the object. It has always been like that.

I'm looking to change the loot sparkle into a moonbeam shaft.

    M2/WotLK - WoWDev
    M2/Cata - WoWDev

    Model Treepath:
Data\common-2.MPQ\Particles\Lootfx.m2 (* if on a 3.X client the bold part should still remain the same

    Textures:
    Item\ObjectComponents\Weapon\flare.blp
    Spells\star5a.blp

As schlumpf said, swapping the whole model instead of editing it's particles is a lot less painful, much easier to achieve and most likely serves the same purpose.
