Well -- You shouldn't have replaced it.
In 3.* the mapviewer is unstable and therefore not fully working. He will never load any -*.MPQs. WoW will.
Hi, I just discovered this whole map editing thing and am trying to get a few that I downloaded to work in WoW Map Viewer. The two files I downloaded were named patch-m.mpq and patch-5.mpq. I renamed patch-m.mpq to patch.mpq and copied it into my Data folder, replacing the original mpq file. I got it to work in WoW map viewer, but lost a lot of other stuff. However, when I did the same thing with patch-5.mpq, wow map viewer crashes.
Am I doing this right? Thanks all.![]()

I actually backed up the original patch.mpq file so no worries there. And I did manage to get wow map viewer to read one mpq file, but I understand if it doesn't work with all of them.
If I shouldn't have replaced the original patch.mpq file, what should I have done?
Thanks.

What exactely do you want? Only the mapviewer to show the edits or use them ingame?
both, if possible, but the later is most important![]()
