[Sound Swap] WoW - Zelda Edition

    WoW - Zelda Edition!

This patch has unfortunately been abandoned by me, mainly because I don't play WoW...

Ok, first of all I want you to know that I'm not any great MPQ editor.

I've noticed that the WoW sounds are... well... a bit lame, and everyone I know play WoW without sounds.
    But not anymore!

    If you haven't seen this before;
This is a patch that replaces the in-game sounds / music with original soundtracks from Zelda - Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask
(Sorry, don't remember where I got those from)
    ^- Sadface D:

    How to install:
    1. Extract the Patch-7.rar
    2. Move the Patch-7.MPQ to \World of Warcraft\Data
    3. If WoW is already running you should close it and reopen it again.
    4. Enjoy

    What I've replaced:
    - Almost all of the music in vanilla
    - Some sounds from TBC
    - DALARAN MUSIC FINALLY !
    - Character sounds
    - Weapon sounds (Metal to flesh, metal to metal, etc.)
    - Title theme
    - UI sounds (Open map, ping on minimap, open main menu, etc.)

    What I've NOT replaced:
    - Most of the sounds in the expansions
    - Spell sounds

    Download:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

I know it's pretty big. But as I said I'm not any great MPQ editor. (Some help would be great btw :> )

Oh and btw. The character sounds is a bit low (idk how to fix that) :P

I'm probably not going to continue on this one so just feel free to edit it and publish it somewhere else or w/e. No restrictions.

    - Patch-maker tool: Ladik's

This is epic, I'm making a similar one at the moment, but with newer tunes from the Zelda series if you don't mind ^^

This is cool. I wish I had played more of Ocarina to be able to really appreciate it. It got me thinking about doing this with other games though. Would you be able to point me in the right direction as to how to you went about doing the edits?

It's not very hard to make such edits as I did. It only requires patience :P

Ok so the first thing you'll be needing is an MPQ extracting/editing program. I personally go with Ladik's MPQ Editor (I think it should be around on this forum). And that's pretty much it.

All you have to do is to extract the folders from the MPQ files in your WoW directory you want to edit. Replace all the files in the folder you just extracted with your sound files (they must have the same name!). For example if you wanna replace a file named "zomgwtf.wav" you just name your own file zomgwtf.wav and replace the old one.

Then the final step. Pack it into a MPQ file and name it Patch-<INSERTRANDOMLETTERORNUMBERHERE>.MPQ
It's important that you keep the same path as the MPQ file you extracted.

And there you got a patch! Enjoy

I also did that with the Super Mario World, of Warcraft but it got kinda lame. So I made this instead

Thanks a huge lot again for the patch, and the guide on how to do it. I'm actually borrowing the character (well human male) and some of the sound effects to put in my own soundswap of Vanilla, BC, and Wrath.

Ok guys I've understood that a patch that only works on vanilla sounds is pretty boring... So I've decided to update it! :>
But I'm not sure if I should use the sounds from Majora's Mask or if I should continue using the old sounds from OOT...
I'll let you decide by simply posting what you want in the forum!
You don't even have to choose between MM or OOT. You can have other suggestions as well.

So what are you waiting for? Post!
