[WIP][Custom Model] Sword of... ?

So, I finally found someone to teach me how to work with 3Ds Max, makin' dem models and shiz. This is my very, very first model I've been working on and it's been great practice, although it's very simplistic.

While I'm waiting for the "teacher" to return from his holidays and help me with skinning this thing, I thought on throwing it out and asking a bit o' opinions on it.

When I first started this model, I didn't have much of a plan, so I took a few pointers from similar sword models, such as Obsidian Edged Blade and tried to recreate something along that. Also since this is my first one, it still might have a bug or two hiding in it and I haven't skinned it yet.

Enough of speech, pictures.






All in all, I like it, but I'm lacking ideas on what to do with the hilt. Skulls, fists or something? Same with the skinning, what sort of material should this sword be... maybe metal, with some rune - marks.

Comments, thoughts, ideas?

Look's nice, allthough shouldnt the spikes on the handla point in another direction so you dont get needled? :P

A horde marker would look nice on that dice just like the mark that's on the high warlord bow.

An Icy blade with some deeper, darker runic patterns and maybe a shadowy glow that engulfs the blade would be really nice.

Whatever texture you choose I'm sure it'll turn out awesome

I'm probably going for a fiery blade, something pulled out of magma and sorts. Runic patterns, like those in Molten Core, could work well on the blade.

Have to see about flaming effects, I honestly haven't got a clue how to add those.

Current plans:
- Make the blade thinner
- Hilt to thin as well
- Finish the head of the hilt
- Work on ze UVW
