A Challenge?

Ok people, if you've been here a long time, I'm sure you will remember back in the day when myself and about 5 others from MMowned joined an IRC channel called GM Island and didn't come out until we had successfully gotton to the island. I don't want to gloat, but I was lost and confused the whole night, yet in the mourning I was the first one of the group to set feet on GM Island. Well, lets get past all this GM Island stuff. The point is, I am proposing we do the same thing, but this time, we learn how to edit ADT files (WoWs terrain files) and hex edit these to raise the water level and such. Hex editing these files will give us even more power in the World of Warcraft. Now, I have nothing to go on as far as how to go about doing this. Last time we were fortunate enough to get small tips here and there and even had a experienced Model Changer (from Nogg I think) help us out a little in the IRC channel. Well, whadya say? Is anyone else up for this challenge?

BTW I've been working a bit on the same factor and I've been able to add terrain to wsg... but it was off the map (I could see it but couldn't get to it) =S So I think this could be successful.

Well my first step is to find a working program to view there terrain files. We need to know exactly what we are editing of course
There was a program called WoW Mapper, it still works, only problem is, you would have to recode the program. It still is trying to look for the files in the old MPQ structure (terrain.mpq, wmo.mpq etc..)

it wouldnt be too hard to recode. just decompile the program that we use to model edit now, and add the code to WoWMapper

Yes, of course I know that. I was refering to a program that shows you a minimap view of each block or each adt file. Kalimdor_20_12.adt for example.

You linked what you use to raise water levels in ADT files... Hex editing is another story, but I don't think we need to pull together a team to do it....
