I wanted to share the thing i tried last night with good results.
In theory works with any level. *tested with level 83 character.

If you go to invasion zone and leave your character in the zone (I tried leaving my character in the village of invasion) with a macro that wouldn't let you disconnect you will be earning experience from each invasion stage.

Results I had with boa items:
100-110k exp per stage + 1 green and 1 blue box in adition to currency per invasion.
I used a macro on my mouse to do W + S once every 5 minutes indefinitely.

You can only get XP once per invasion CD, so you cant just sit in the same spot collecting it per event

Also its about 50% per invasion. 16% for first 3 waves and 22% for the last one.

Not sure about the mechanics, but I left it overnight at 83 with few %, this morning the invasion was still happening, i was 84 and got close to 85. Maybe I had a reset, but I'm pretty sure I was getting exp from every repeated invasion. This morning I've done dun morogh, and few mins ago just finished another dun morogh getting normal exp.

just tried on EU servers, I get exp per invasion only ONCE (every 4 hours 2 different invasions).
got something like 55k exp each for the first 3 waves, then 83kfor the last wave @lvl 93. with full heirloom & %20 potion from garrison resources.

The reason why that happened is that the invasion can spawn again on the same location so chances are that happened. Anyway for afk its worth it, what do you use for anti afk?

I have set up a simple macro on a steelseries mouse. It toggle-able repeat sequence to move a bit with w + s keys once every 5 min.

The idea is to leave character for a weekend or a week. It's summer time after all.
With basic calculations you can see the gains.
1 invasion between 80 and 90 level gives you roughly 70% of level.
On average you will be getting 70% twice per 24 hour window considering invasions have 1/3 chance of spawning in the location you're in per pop.
That means a char left for a week in one spot would gain an average of 9 levels. There's always a luck chance too. It's not much, but for busy people it saves time.

Edit: at least I know that I'll be leaving my alts while i'm away at work.

this only works if you're luck is good enough that your area gets an invasion every 4 hours. most of the time you're just wasting electricity.

or if you are staying in anyways, i had around 5 chars at lvl 85 that i figured i would bring up, so i just afk them and fire up another game while they sit afk
