Capture Rare battle pets the smart way

When I first started doing pet battles I would capture pets at random and randomly get grey through blue quality pets.

It became tedious capturing multiple pets in the hope that I would get a rare blue quality pet.

I realized there was an easy way to capture the rare pets and ignore (kill) the low quality pets.

Simply look at the stats of the critters you are battling.

The rare pets will have significantly better stats. More HP and better attack/defense scores.

If you are battling a pet and it has 100 more hit points than the others you fight, then capture that one and it will likely be either a green or blue quality pet.

If it has low HP or atttack/defense scores just kill and dont waste your time capturing it as it will be a grey or white quality pet.

This is probably working as intented and not an exploit, because once you know it seems so obvious.

However this fact may be missed by new players to battle pets.

I was about to post this exact same thing. Fight a few pets, capture the ones with the highest points.

Ill add that the best way to farm rare pets is to get a piece of paper and pen for each zone.

Capture 1 pet of each type and write down the hp value if it is common.

Then initiate pet battles with everything.

Quickly scan the HP of the enemy pets in the battle and if the HP is higher, then capture it.

If it is not, retreat from battle (there is no consequence for retreating).

You can quickly get the rares of each type in a zone by dong this.

    Want an easier way?
No addon type this in and make a macro
    /run for i=1,C_PetBattles.GetNumPets(2) do SELECTED_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(C_PetBattles.GetName(2,i).." - ".._G["BATTLE_PET_BREED_QUALITY"..C_PetBattles.GetBreedQuality(2,i)]) end

This will post EACH of the opponent's quality of each pet. Enjoi

This is useless when it comes to rare-spawn pets, such as Flayer Youngling, or Minfernal.
I recommend the macro posted above ^

Pick up PetTracker as well. Shows what pets in the area you do not have as well as tracks them on the map for you. Uses GatherMate 2 I think.

The installed tracker has nothing on Pet Tracker addon. That's like saying "Oh, you can track mining nodes when you learn the mining skill, why would you need GatherMate?"

Uses your MAP, not your mini map. Far superior to standard tracker

Just use the add-on ArkInventory from curse. it tells you in chat the quality of it and if it is a higher quality than the same pet you have.
