[How to] Increase your FPS and decrease your MS ingame

Found this on d3scene, just sharing it here.
for all the players with low fps or ms, here is something that might help.

Here will be three macro's that will put your game settings to the lowest settings in the game.
    Do this:

    Login into the game.
Type '/m' (without quotes) into your chatbox.
Create three new macro's and put this into them:

    Macro 1

    /console ffx 0
    /console hwPCF 1
    /console shadowlod 0
    /console timingmethod 1
    /console showshadow 0
    /console showfootprints 0
    /console showfootprintparticles 0

    Macro 2

    /console overridefarclip 0
    /console farclip 177
    /console horizonfarclip 1305
    /console detailDoodadAlpha 0
    /console groundeffectdensity 16

    Macro 3

    /console groundeffectdist 1
    /console smallcull 1
    /console skycloudlod 1
    /console characterAmbient 1
    /console extshadowquality 0
    /console environmentDetail 0.5

Now, this part is very important.
If you have a dual-core processor, add this to the first macro:

    /console m2Faster 1

If you have a tri-core processor, add this to the first macro:

    /console m2Faster 2

If you have a quad-core processor, add this to the first macro:

    /console m2Faster 3

Then put them on your action bar and click them in order. (1 --> 3)

I'm using a real crapy laptop with onboard graphics. I had 35 fps just looking at trees in ashenvale with nothing around. After applying all 3 macros it went up to 49 without moving at all.

Thanks for the tips, I had everything turned down in game but this helped me. +rep

It can't decrease your MS as that is your connection speed to blizzards servers, it has nothing to do with your graphical options.

MS is more than just the time it takes for information to go through the cable.

Latency is the time it takes to reach from point A to Point B it is everything to do with your internet connection.

Technically you are correct - practically theres more to it. As the description ingame says "time to talk to the server" not "time to reach the server when package has been sent".

    Just tested it.

    Before macro:

    131 ms home
    165 ms world

    52 fps

    after macro:

    141 ms home
    160 ms world

    43 fps
Exploration: To go where the Game designer thinks you don't know about!

"/console showfootprints 0" doesnt work for me. also if you right click launcher and go to properties and add "-console" without quotes to the end of the target shortcut location ( for me it looks like: "C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" -console) you can press the ~ key to access the console commands in game and you can see what console commands actually work for you.

here is a list of console variables in wow you can try out as well:
