    Qirka Cata JWC Enchanting Spreadsheet

    I've seen alot of spreadsheets lately but few of them got the information I wanted or calculated the profits incorrectly.

    This spreadsheet includes prospecting of Obsidium, Elementium and Pyrite Ore.

    One big difference from other spreadsheet is that it calculates the chance of several dusts and essences instead of calculate the chance of just getting it. That makes the profit information more reliable. One other thing added is the material cost for creating the rings (Jeweler's Setting).

    Feel free to comment and please reply if you see any misscalculations.

    Updated the old version.

    Working very well.

    Making a seperate section for disenchanting only, meaning no prospecting, just buying gems would be cool.

    I suspect some of your math is wrong for prospecting.

    Look here for obsidium ore:

    100 prospects with 24% chance for uncommon and 1.2% or 1.3% chance for rare you will on average get these results:
    24 Carn
    24 Hessonite
    24 Nightstone
    24 Jasper
    24 Zephyrite
    24 Alicite
    1.3 Demonseye
    1.2 Ember Topaz
    1.2 Amberjewel
    1.3 Dream Emerald
    1.2 Inferno Ruby
    1.2 Ocean Sapphire

    If each sells for 10g we get:
    Carn = 240g
    Hessonite = 240g
    Nightstone = 240g
    Jasper = 240g
    Zephyrite = 240g
    Alicite = 240g
    Demonseye = 13g
    Ember Topaz = 12g
    Amberjewel = 12g
    Dream Emerald = 13g
    Inferno Ruby = 12g
    Ocean Sapphire = 12g

    Add those together and we get: 1514g

    100 prospects = 500 ore
    500 Ore for 4g each = 2000g

    Profit = 1514 - 2000 = -486g

    On your program we enter 25 stacks for 80g per stack.
    This equals 100 prospects and 4g per ore (which is the same values we used above). We also then set every gem to 10g.

    It returns a profit of 234g when we can clearly see from before the profit value should return -486g.

    It seems like he's using the disenchanting nomenclature where you have an equal chance to get any of the possible frequency of drops.

    B/c he's doing (# of prospects)*(gem chance)/(# of frequencies)(frequency0 + ... + frequencyn)

    For plugged in numbers for obsidium:

    100 prospects
    24% chance of an uncommon gem
    Chance to prospect into either 1 or 2 of the gem

    Code:
    # of gems = 100*0.24/2*(1+2)
              = (100*0.12)(1+2)
              = (100*0.12)+2*(100*0.12)
              = (100*0.12)+2*(100*0.12)
              = 12 + 24
              = 36
    My understanding is that the % chance found on wowhead takes into account the chance to get either 1 or 2 because it isn't actually a stack of gems, but individual gems. Therefore, as wootpeng was saying, the formula is incorrect in Qirka's spreadsheet.

    It should really be:

    # of gems = (# of prospects)*(gem chance)
    Code:
    # of gems = 100*0.24
              = 24

    Updated the spreadsheet since I didn't take in account that you loot every gem individually. Thanks for the replies or I would have missed it
