I dont think people quite get it....You need to stay under 20 yards away from him or he will de-agro but more than 5 yards away or you will die.

I tried this today, got him to 73% and he somehow just evaded me, I was in range of him, but he got stuck in something, I guess an invisible wall or something.. He didnt more and he dissapeared a few seconds after..

I can guarantee 20yds is not the de-aggro range, as I am an ice mage, and backpeddled, used mirror image and the elemental and would get out of range of ice lance *35 yd range* from time to time w/o de-aggro'ing.. I even ran all the way down into the next zone without losing him, and back up to near the edge... turning away just in time to not lose the 60% swim speed buff... MI and elemental just give you a chance to cast a real spell, rather then having to spam instant casts...
I tried this earlier today, and got him down to 4700k hp, before one of the times I turned around I accidentally was swimming too far up, instead of in the horizontal axis, and the map appeared to show him closer then he actually was, so I lost aggro... took me over 20 minutes, but my gear is too poor to even enter heroics yet..
Zione, when they auto-evade, that is because they de-aggro'd..
