So while working with PocketGnome bot software I came across the idea of being able to relay commands to my wow bot computer.
I'm a PC and a Mac user.
This is a pretty simple process that will allow you to send commands across a the internet via instant messeging client (iChat specifically).
Remote Commands via IM
First you need this applescript (I am not the original author, but I have made changes for it to work with 3.1.3 and OSX 10.5.7)
Launch iChat on your Mac. Configure a GoogleTalk OR AIM account (I perfer googletalk because the updates come quicker and I can guildchat!). I assume this will work with bonjour as well.
Copy the applescript to your /Library/Scripts/iChat directory.
(either, Go>Go To Folder type in path, or use Terminal).
In iChat open preferences>Alerts.
Check the "Run Applescript:" option and select the wowchat0.1.applescript file.
* I highly suggest using a obfuscated name that other people wont know (dont share this IM handle or you may get someone else controlling your wowclient).
2 Way communication
If you want 2-way communication (ie, receive tells/guildchat/etc) then you need to run pocketgnome (have the bot started and running, not just the application).
Goto the Chat tab and select "Relay Chat" fill in the userid you want pocketgnome to talk to (your normal IM account).
That's It! now when you get /tells or /guildchat or /1, etc they will be relayed to you via gtalk/IM. Its awesome for remote botting or just guildchat from school/work.
You can use any slash command as well!
