how do i log in wow without downloading patch 2.3?

i want to get on Wowgasm private server but it doesnt run on 2.3. So i uninstalled wow and downloaded up to the patch before 2.3 and tied to log on then it said patch required restart?
Anyone know how to log in without downloading patach.
please note: its askes me to download after i log in

dude....even if u DL patch 2.3, it wont matter

I play all of the time on private servers with a patch higher than they are running. It doesnt do anything, the game only uses the patches that it is told to use. If the server is running say 2.0, and u have up to 2.3, it will only use up to 2.0 and the 2.0+ will just sit there...

Actually that depends. If game files used by both versions are changed then it is forced to use the new ones. the issue is that the game version is written into the signature file as well as into several other files the signature protects. anyways...have you checked your emulator files to make sure as to what version its set to allow in? Also double check your realmlist to make sure it hasn't defaulted back to the original settings.

When you try to log on a privat server you must have its ip and you have to replace that with the one in \World of Warcraft and a file called Realmlist open it. and for god sake copy the first two lines, and put them in another txt. get the privat server Realmlist (Its like an ip to the server) type it in.. so it looks something like this.
