Sold account, what way is there to track your (possibly renamed-) character?

Lets one sells his WoW account and wants to keep track of his char for nostalgic reasons - father daughter syndrom style...

What way is there to track your character that was then possibly renamed? You obviously cant see your toon on the armory any longer once he was renamed. Is there a way how this still can work?

Friends list update after namechange afaik. If he change faction or realm, it's lost though.

Just adding to what Eryxon is saying, just add a note to what the name is and then if / when the person changes it, just look for the note and there u go

I built an "alt finder" a while ago, basically it searches through armory for people with the same battle pets + battle pet levels + "pets owned/mounts owned".

I'm not exactly offering this search engine to you, because it uses a TON of storage space, but it's an idea should you want to invest

Giving options, explaining how i've done it in the past. I don't know what you read incorrectly, I explained exactly how i accomplished the task, however I don't have current resources to store 15gigs worth of database storage.

If you just wanna check on achivs earned, maybe creating an alt on a random foreign server could help, less likely to delete/use it that way. Just keep it bookmarked.
