Is there a such thing as legit private buyers??

Gold sites are paying wayy to low for gold and I want to sell to private buyers since they pay more than a gold site would. But so far Ive tried to sell to 2 people, both scammed me. And everyone else i talk to on AIM either is a complete idiot or too suspicious of a potential scammer.
How can I find LEGIT trustworthy private buyers??
