this theory would work only if on cataclysm release
a) they just turn on a switch and you only need to relog after said switch is activated
b) theres a restart but it lasts less than a couple of seconds.

so here is my theory.

as you might know from the patch notes, the grace time for disconnecting in a battleground has been increased to 3 minutes. so at say 20 minutes (may change depending on length of your battleground queue.) you join a battleground, right before the restart or switch is activated, you use a disconect macro

this way, you could skip the big login queue to get back into the server and rush to server first.

I may be wrong, but I remember Ghostcrawler saying something about them disabling /console commands on Cata release.

I don't think you would need a battleground for this to work. If you get disconnected from normal world servers you can log back in instantly without going through a queue.

restarts dont work like auto logout?
I suggest to plug off lan cable from computer 5-10 sec before restart, restart game and try log in.

there was no restart for bc and no restart for wotlk, there wont be one for cataclysm (they will just set the expansionLevel on your account from 2 to 3 at 0:00)

Sorry, but no -- and that's aside from the fact that this thread is full of assumptions about how Cata launch will work (esp considering it's very different from the other two).

first of all, its tagged as theory since well its a theory.
second, when you disconnect you skip the loggin queue because of the grace time the servers give you so if my theory is right, you will be able to skip the large queues and go get server first level 85.
