3.3.5: Bricked. Realmlist and Config.wtf problems HELP!

Long story short, my WoW is stuck at "Connecting", and doesn't reach authentication stages. After peeling through the US support forums, I find out tons of people are having the same problem.

Digging around, I find that my config.wtf doesn't match Blizz settings:
    SET locale "enUS"
    SET realmList "logon.prologue-wow.com"
    SET hwDetect "0"
    SET gxRefresh "60"
    SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000"
    SET gxFixLag "0"
    SET videoOptionsVersion "3"
    SET movie "0"
    SET Gamma "1.000000"
    SET readTOS "1"
    SET readEULA "1"
    SET showToolsUI "1"
    SET Sound_OutputDriverName "System Default"
    SET Sound_MusicVolume "0.40000000596046"
    SET Sound_AmbienceVolume "0.60000002384186"
    SET farclip "777.000000"
    SET specular "1"
    SET groundEffectDensity "24"
    SET projectedTextures "1"
    -----------------
A private server called PROLOGUE WoW. I tried putting in the US logon server, but as soon as I launched and closed out WoW.exe, the game changes it BACK to the private server.

    I hate this patch.

Delete your realmlist.WTF file and the config.WTF file.
Open Launcher.exe (You have the original Blizzard launcher, right?)
And everything will be back to normal.

    Changed it right back to:

    SET locale "enUS"
    SET realmList "logon.prologue-wow.com"
    SET hwDetect "0"
    SET gxRefresh "60"
    SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000"
    SET gxFixLag "0"
    SET videoOptionsVersion "3"
    SET movie "0"
    SET Gamma "1.000000"
    SET readTOS "1"
    SET readEULA "1"
    SET showToolsUI "1"
    SET Sound_OutputDriverName "System Default"
    SET Sound_MusicVolume "0.40000000596046"
    SET Sound_AmbienceVolume "0.60000002384186"
    SET farclip "777.000000"
    SET specular "1"
    SET groundEffectDensity "24"
    SET projectedTextures "1"

As soon as I logged on, anyway. It created a new config.wtf file in the WTF folder, but did not create a new realmlist.wtf file.

Found the problem, and it's on Blizz's side. (Stoneharry, I'm trying to connect to retail)

World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> No one on a mac can connect. FORUM PETITION

Any insight from some senior coders here? Think it is Blizz's DNS internal values ****ing up?

While I couldn't originally find the proper config to make the change, the details should help someone at Blizzard sort out the apparently incorrect internal default value(s) for the realmlist.wtf file when it is missing.

It may not relate to everyone's issue, but it certainly is a problem. If I yank that file, WoW won't replace it, and it tries to connect to "enUS.logon.battle.net" which is incorrect or old. This needs to be changed in WoW code I would imagine.

Also, a quick DNS record update to "enUS.logon.battle.net" to match the "us.logon.battle.net" would be a fast solution requiring no user interaction at all. Unless that domain is going to be used elsewhere, no harm done right?

Chraz, a priest from the forums, points out that the realmlist.wtf file doesn't automatically replace itself when you delete it (this is absolutely true in my case). I'm wondering why some people were able to fix their WoW with the troubleshooting, while others weren't? I would postulate that 3.3.5 implemented new countermeasures for private server players, in order to brick the game as a result of the user changing the realmlist to that of a non-Blizz DNS, though this is just wild speculation, and I really don't know my head's worth of this kind of stuff. Needless to say, my WoW was working before, so 3.3.5 (and the massive shitwad that it is) did SOMETHING to my copy.

The launcher hasn't reset my realmlist for a long while now, not sure how to bring it back without letting Repair.exe check 7GB+ worth of data. Here is the original US realmlist though.

    Code:
    set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
    set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
    set realmlistbn ""
    set portal us

There would be NO reason why the config would be set to a private server, it's not like a Blizzard coder would've added a private server by mistake?

    This just seems stupid?

I don't use Mac so I can't really help you! Good Luck fixing this though
