What is the max level?

What is the max level were you cannot grant any more levels to people lower than you? I heard that at 60 all your granting privelages are gone, but people told me it wasn't until 61, I don't want to get 60, then realize I have lost 30 levels to grant. To be safe should I just grant them at 59? Then just get a level and see if it still works?

The title is very misleading. And, at level 60, all your accumulated levels are lost, so you must grant them all at 59.
