[Discovery] Gul'dan's Black Box in Shadowmoon Valley

While I was exploring underneath Outland today, I flew up into the Hand of Gul'dan and was surprised to find this black box floating inside not far below the peak of the mountain. Didn't see it posted anywhere else in the forum.

You can fly through it from any direction. It's invisible from the inside.

These are called place-holder boxes. If you peered above the box you would see some sort of fire, with some sort of effect. This are almost everywhere beneath unique flame models, a big one being under stonetalon mountains. Even if they are common, they are still strange!

Interesting. I might have to explore under the world more often, there is so much to be discovered.

You'd be surprised how many placeholders there are everywhere. Here's a few in tirisfal glades:

There's also the original entrance to Naxx underneath the ground in EPL, as well as the tunnel in Stratholme that was left as a placeholder for the original-original entrance to upper stratholme (AKA Naxx).

Check again, the naxx entrance isn't there anymore.

+2 rep to Nona for the screenshots. The flame under the closed building had been posted here before, but the statue and fountain are new to me, and very interesting.
