[Old School Exploration] Old Hillsbrad Foothills (two videos)

Hey Ownedcore, back again with some old school exploration.

I seem to be going crazy with the explorations, let me know if I am posting too much, or just smack me upside the head and tell me to stop.

Took about an hour to find the spot, and an hour to upload these. Since I can't put two in the post, I will just give the link to the first one, and post the one that goes out of Hillsbrad.

Anyway, the first video is fairly easy. You need to be a mage, though. Follow the video to the Dwarven bunker and simply blink though the entrance, and voilą! You are inside the bunker. It is pretty useless in there. There are anvils in there, so I suppose you could do some blacksmithing or something. Blink back out if you want to get out. I am still messing around with in game recording, I think 720p is the best I am going to get for quality. Would love to figure out of my system can handle producing 1080p!

    Difficulty: Easy
Old Hillsbrad Exploration Part 1 - YouTube

The next video is the video where you actually get outside the boundaries of the instance. I have searched "Old Hillsbrad Foothills" "Hillsbrad Foothills" and the like, and did not find this particular mage guide to getting outside. It is fairly simple to do as well, and most of the ones that were posted required you to mount though walls, back before it was fixed (doing it w/o the DC macro) I remember doing this back in BC when it came out on my Mage, and had forgotten about it. There was another way to do it, but it was sadly fixed. I wasn't surprised, since it was an super old school blink trick (positioning yourself correctly between a tower and the ground, and blinking to the remaining part of the tower underground, and then slow falling to water.)

Start at Tarren Mill. From there, run up like you are going to the Alterac Valley battleground portal. Take a left and follow the video until you reach the tree that has been knocked over. From there, jump the tree on the right. It will be tricky to jump from where the invisible wall is to the top of the stump, but once you position yourself correctly, you should be able to get onto the top of the stump. Once on top, go ahead and blink though the first invisible wall. Wait for blink, and blink though the last invisible wall. The reason you can blink though the wall, and not anywhere else, is because I believe you trick blink, so to speak, into thinking the wall isn't even there when you are on something other than the actual terrain of the world (I cannot think of the name of the terrains, there like M2, WMO, etc.) This could be used for other exploration as well for blinking past invisible walls that you cannot usually blink though.

Enough of the wall of text, here is the video

Difficulty: Medium (Just because that first tree is a pain to jump to get onto the fallen tree. The rest is easy mode.)

Watch in 720p for better quality.

EDIT: You can skip from around 1:00 to around 2:45 if you get the general idea of whats going on here. I forgot to speed it up with iMovie, so skipping would be advised unless you want to watch me fail for 2 minutes

Have fun exploring the rest of Old Hillsbrad. If anyone can find a way past the blue invisible wall, that would be great. The reason being is because of the mysterious ocean past it. I am almost certain it is not liquid, but it is worth a try! Lots of old school content here. Too bad the Dalaran bubble wasn't there, but the brown ground was!

This last picture is a cave that is not reachable unless you do a little mountain climbing. Exploration within exploration?!

Man, this is just awesome. I swear, I have tried to jump up that tree so many times... never made it... assumed I was 'barking up the wrong tree'. Very impressive! I'm thinking I need to do a video of my own, you will get full credit.

This is absolutely true. Whenever you are standing on an object (like a tree branch) that goes through an invisible wall, you can typically blink through that wall. This also works with mushroom chair / fishing chair, if placed at the wall while standing on the object. The spots where this happens are few and far between, but when you discover one it is good to know about this trick!

I am looking forward to when the forum lets me give you more +reputation. There is no such thing as "posting too much"... please continue to share with us if you are willing! We're loving your stuff.

Actually it is possible to get past the blue wall as a Mage using WizarTrokair's method with the flying mount. Since there are no unknown zones in Old Hillsbrad, I cannot quite get past it. I have been looking for another object that is not the terrain that is hanging over the blue wall to blink past it. In theory, that should work. I am going to revisit it and see if I can find a way. But like as I said, I highly doubt the water is liquid (being able to to swim in it.) As for GM Island, I can't quite make it to the blue wall in time before I run out of fatigue. I tested blinking though the blue wall in Ghostlands unknown area, but I was not able to slowfall back to the water area, as it would push me back into the wrong side of the wall. So I was not able to mount on my hybrid mount and fly into the netherspace. I will hopefully find a way to get past it.

I do have an 85 druid, but Darkmoon Faire is over, so I cannot get the darkmoon tigers. If I can get past the wall with those on my druid, it would be easy mode just to switch to druid form and go from there!

Also: thanks for subscribing WizardTrokair and Jolejuve!

Ok, my fellow explorers. This has been driving me nuts since I found a way outside of the boundaries.

    WoWScrnShot_021712_202733.jpg

Do you see the dwarven building in Hinterlands right there? Well, if only I could find a way to Hinterlands, I could get on top of that building and blink though the blue wall. I have tried normal wall jumping/climbing and have not found a way. I am going to make Rocket Boots Extreme Lite for my Mage again, so I know of a way to get up the mountains next to it. Maybe I can rocket boots over to a place where I can climb up the mountain. Stay tuned. I will get past the blue wall!!

EDIT: They lowered the drop rate on the Rocket Boots Extreme Lite from around 50% pre-Cata, to around 6% post-Cata. Blizz... why do you do this to me?

@Teryaki2 I'v never attempted to climb the mountains to get into The Hinterlands area before, but I do know a way to get over there. Use this method to get under the world and into the big lake at the southern end of Hillsbrad, parcequefraise1's Channel - YouTube . Yes the water is back in Old HB since patch 4.3 btw. Once you touch down in the southern big lake under the world, hang a left instead of a right like in the vid. You have to swim under the world a bit because there is an invisible wall you must bypass. I'm a lock so I've always used eye of kilrog to guage when I've bypassed the wall, I'd suggest using something similar to save you some frusturation heh. Anyways, once you bypass the invisible wall, pop above the ground and follow the coast and you will eventually find a little path leading up and into The Hinterlands. Good luck!

Can't you climb up using the blue wall like (if my brain does not fail me) VoTuUS did in mount hyjal ?

And the rocket boots had already a very low drop rate before cata, i used to do the heroic everyday and iirc it was around 5% for heroic 1% for normal mode...

This spot here where the blue wall and the mountain collide is too vertically steep here to climb up using the same method VoTuUS did in Mount Hyjal. And yes the boots rate is low, but RNG is RNG... mine dropped only after a few tries. They are one of the best exploring tools out there, IMO.

OMFG I love you. I had somehow missed this. +rep when I can... I never did an Old HB video for my channel... this gives me great reason to go back and do so.

I suppose I can try the disconnect part and see if I can swim over to Hinterlands some how. Getting past the walls is driving me crazy, but I am pretty sure the ocean isn't liquid. I will post either a picture guide or a video on it when I get home from work this afternoon.

Ok, I was able to get to Arathi Highlands using the method that Aegean posted above. I am going to post a video on it in a few. It looks like the only way to get past the blue wall is with the Mushroom Chair, Darkmoon Tigers, or flying and blinking. Unfortunately, I have none of those options. And the water is not liquid, the reason I know this is because when you move your camera over water, it shows that you are underwater, even if you are not. I blinked though the cave and fell to my death to find this out haha. I will upload the video when I am done editing it and stuff. I forgot to keep the WoW music on, so I will have to find something in my iTunes library that is good.

This was done using http://www.youtube.com/user/parceque...23/6FyL3uhMepQ I only modified it by disconnecting to get though the wall.

Music is Disorganized Fun by Ronald Jenkees.

Well, I have gone back and done so....

Thanks to everyone in this thread that inspired me to go explore Old Hillsbrad Foothills again. Special thanks and credit to Teryaki2 for showing me the way past the tree on the northern border, and thanks to Aegean for pointing out that the water is now back! Thanks to VotU for first showing me the hole under the Dwarven structure, and to ParceQueFraise1 for discovering it.

I've even found a new spot to get under the instance, right in the beginning cave. Enjoy the video:

    Damn Trokair, that's pretty nice!

But as you showed in your video about getting through the invisible walls with different mechanics, I can't get the Darkmoon Tiger to work, it will simply just put it just infront of the wall and not through it, maybe they have fixed it? And i'll definetly go buy the Mushroom Chair, I had totally forgotten about that item!

+rep for both you and tery

Nice work Trokair! Thanks for going up there and checking that place out in Arathi Highlands. I haven't visited the area in a while so I didn't really get the chance to explore that area! +rep

EDIT: Grats on contributor Synrithh! (I believe last time I saw you were getting pretty close)

EDIT2: The video that was posted by me about a week ago was the wrong video, I fixed it. I was part 2 again, but now it should be part 3. Thought I had posted the right video but I guess I didn't haha.
